Now that the trip is complete a few thank you’s are in order. I received a lot of help from so many amazing people and would like to say a quick thanks.
Firstly I must thank my number one support crew – Dad. Definitely couldn’t have done it without you!
A lot of people, including Duncan Garner from TV3 Story, comment on how good the website is. I would love to claim that I made it myself but unfortunately am nowhere near talented enough. My good friend Dave Fox put in many hours to craft it into the beauty that it is. Absolute legend. If you are interested in getting one made drop him an email – david@fox.nz.
Greenpeace and 350 Aoreatroa have been great in steering me in the right direction. Great organisations and definitely worth following and supporting. Starboard NZ supplied me with all the hardware for the trip which worked perfectly. Couldn’t have done it on a better board.
Before the journey I had no idea about PR and media in general. To all those who helped me out, thanks a lot for all the help and patience when asking questions like “whats a press release?”
I met a lot of great people along the way who not only gave me many encouraging words but also plenty of fresh seafood to keep me going. In particular I would like to thank Daryl and Paora from Radio Ngati Porou for your awesome support.
Big thank you to all my family and friends for the encouragement and support. Particular thanks to my lovely girlfriend for putting up with me moaning about the wind on the phone, fuelling me with with home baking, seeing me off and being there to meet me at the finish line.
Last but certainly not least a big thank you to everyone who has supported the cause in one way for another. Keep up to date with the greenpeace Facebook page for the latest info on deep sea oil in NZ. Join us on Monday 21 March for a peaceful demonstration of civil disobedience at the Oil Conference at the SkyCity Convention Centre, co-ordinated by Greenpeace, inspired by Te Whiti and Tohu of Parihaka, by Gandhi, and Martin Luther King Jr. More info below. See you there!
